Rewrite-a-fic is a low-commitment, multi-fandom event dedicated to rewriting a fic you've written before!

The goal of this event is to rewrite something you've done before, a one-shot or a longer fic.

Event rules:
The work written has to be yours originally.
Original characters are allowed!
The fic you are rewriting has to be at least one and a half years old for it to be eligible to be rewritten.
The original fic can but doesn't have to already be posted somewhere for everyone to see. If you've never posted the original and don't want to do so, there is no pressure for that!
The length of the fanfic doesn't matter: it can be as long or as short as you want it to be! It doesn't have to match the word count of the original fic either!
There are no content restrictions! Just please use proper content warning when posting the work in the community!
Using generative AI to create a fic is strictly prohibited.

Why one and a half year minimum?
Someone's wriitng style, interpretation of characters and many other notable things usually cahnge after a year or two. I've noticed this in myself and some of the people I know. Different people change in different time frames, so this speciifc time frame was given so that there can be seen some difference in the original and rewritten works. It's understandable tha some people change and evovle faster, but to respect people who might only notice a difference after a longer period of time, this rule is in place.

The fic I want to rewrite is still one one and a half years old as of now, but will be during the event. Can I still participate?
As long as the fic itself is posted after the one and a half year mark, it's perfectly fine!

Does the fic have to be just a rewrite of it with my updated style or can I still change details, add or remove scenes?
As long as the main plot is mostly similar to the original one, the fic will be fine.

The original fic i want to rewrite was never finished. Do I have to finish it or do I rewrite up to the point the original ended?
For this event, it's only impotant that the part that's being rewritten is posted, everything after that is up to you.

I'm rewriting a longer fic and I'm not sure i'll be able to finish it by the deadline.
As long as one changer is finished, the fic can be posted in the community! Just keep in mind that next year you won't be able to post it once it's finished.

The fic I'm rewriting isn't posted anywhere online. Do I need to post it?
There's no need! We will assume in good faith that the fic meets the one and a half year criteria.
